Today is a day of celebration for the Barau fans in far away eastern Nigeria as Barau Football Club finally broke their winless streak, recording their first ever victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) under the leadership of newly appointed General Manager, Dominic Iorfa.
The historic moment came in style a commanding 1-3 away win against Kun Khalifat FC, sending a strong message to fans and critics alike that Barau FC means business this season.
Before Iorfa’s arrival, the club had struggled to find form in their debut top flight campaign, with just one goal scored and five conceded in their opening four matches, Barau FC looked to be finding the NPFL waters a bit too deep. Their last two home games ended in disappointing home draws, a goalless clash against Enyimba FC and a 1-1 result against Bendel Insurance.
However, that narrative changed today, Under the fresh administrative leadership of Dominic Iorfa, a well respected football technocrat, and the tactical guidance of head coach Ladan Bosso, a renowned figure in Nigerian coaching circles, Barau FC turned a new page.
While the club still sits in the relegation zone, this win has dramatically altered the tone of the season. There is a renewed sense of belief within the team, and both Iorfa and Bosso are not shying away from their ambition. “The title is the aim,” they have declared a bold statement that has sparked excitement among the club’s growing fanbase.
This victory may just be the beginning of something special. The players are responding, the system is improving, and the leadership is clear.
Watch out for Barau FC. Watch out for Dominic Iorfa. The season is far from over.
