Former Lobi Stars FC head coach, Mika Lรถnnstrรถm, shared his insightful experience during his tenure with the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) club in a recent interview. Reflecting on his time at the helm, Lรถnnstrรถm commended the talent and professionalism of the players and praised his collaboration with Technical Adviser Daniel Amokachi.

"I was fortunate and pleased in particular to work with my friend Daniel Amokachi, a technical advisor whose knowledge and professionalism are at the highest level," said Lรถnnstrรถm, highlighting the value of Amokachiโ€™s guidance throughout their partnership.

The Finnish coach, who has managed teams in various countries, also pointed out the remarkable potential within Nigerian players. "If you compare these countries, our team and other Nigerian teams really have a lot of interesting and talented individuals. The player profiles were good on a personal level," he noted, acknowledging the impressive raw talent in the NPFL.

However, Lรถnnstrรถm identified key areas for improvement within the league. "Tactical knowledge and understanding of the game as a collective team were the biggest difference and that is certainly something that needs to be developed," he emphasized, suggesting that further growth in these aspects could elevate the league to new heights.

Lรถnnstrรถm's coaching philosophy reflects his belief in supporting players as holistic individuals, stating, "My coaching philosophy is based on the idea that all coaching should support the player as a whole person. Everything about coaching starts from the person and what works for them."

Discussing the challenges unique to the NPFL, Lรถnnstrรถm highlighted the importance of off-field factors such as nutrition, rest, and travel logistics, which differ from the clubs he has worked with in other countries. "Itโ€™s crucial that we focus also on things outside of the pitch," he explained, stressing the need for Nigerian clubs to prioritize these aspects for player well-being and performance.

In conclusion, Lรถnnstrรถm expressed his enjoyment of his time in Nigeria and his hope to return in the future. "I enjoyed working in Nigeria and hope to come over some day," he said, leaving the door open for a potential return to the NPFL.
